At the JC Mandarin in the west of the city you will indeed have to pay more than 300 $ a night for a room, but you will get a room that will probably cost you more than twice as much in any European city. It is a 5 star hotel that you can stay at for the price of a 3 star one :) It's on Nanjing Xi Lu
