But of course you can. If you know where to look, Shanghai ain't such an expensive place after all, when it comes to lodging. I for instance got a more than decent room at the Ruijin Guesthouse in the Old French Concession on Fuxing Lu street for 90 $ a night. And I wasn't sorry for staying there either :)
